Mysterious blast rocks Paris neighborhood
Paris, France — A mysterious blast awoke residents shortly after midnight in the Latin Quarter of downtown Paris yesterday. Witnesses believe the explosion emanated from Square Jean XXIII, home of the famed Notre-Dame Cathedral.
Windows were shattered and car alarms screamed as police and emergency personnel responded to the incident. Residents detailed a small group of men meandering the grounds just before the blast, but authorities found no evidence of a detonated device or debris.
“It’s as if nothing happened,” stated officer Piccard of the Gendarmerie. “There were no traces of explosive materials of any kind. Dozens of residents all say the blast came from the square. We even heard it ourselves, from the precinct two miles away.”
Authorities are continuing to investigate, but it seems this mysterious explosion will haunt Parisians for the near future.
