Anonymous St. Jude donors hailed as heroes
Memphis, TN — An anonymous donation of $3.24 million was recently made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The donors have been hailed as heroes by the media and the internet erupted this week as news of the good deed went viral.
Maya Selnek, CFO of the charity, said Friday that she originally thought the donation was a prank. “Someone brought me a cashiers check that had been received in the mail, and I just didn’t think it was real. After presenting it to the board, we submitted to our bank and, to my absolute shock, the deposit went through smoothly.”
Anonymous donations are not that rare, according to Selnek, but the sheer amount of the donation was startling. “We have never received anything close to this amount from a single donor. The money will go toward life-saving treatments for children that need it the most. Our hearts will forever be with the people who made this happen, whoever you are.”
